Is Online Learning More Effective Than Face to Face Learning?

Online learning is fast becoming the number one choice for students. According to the U.S. Department of Education, digital learning in public schools is going to triple in the next three years. In recent years, there has been a significant rise in the number of students who prefer to go online, rather than to enroll in regular classroom-styled teaching. Generally, the web-based method of teaching is ideal for those who don't want to spend money on travelling to some distance for education. Now, there have emerged primarily three factors for making online learning more popular than its traditional counterpart - time, technology, and curriculum.

Time
Time is one of the main reasons for more and more people shifting toward web-based or "blended" learning (that includes both in-person and online learning methods). People prefer to join online courses because it allows students to learn at their own convenience. To be clearer, there is no compulsion for students to learn at a specific time, just like they do in case of face to face (classroom-based) learning. Students can choose their own time during day or night to learn and likewise select appropriate time to give semester tests.

Learn Using Multimedia
Online learning enables students to use various audio and video elements to view, capture, store, and retrieve any important data or information later. Different multimedia facilities are available to instantly start two-way interaction and collaboration between teachers and students. For example, students sitting in a different location can use Skype to engage in real-time video conferencing and chatting with their institute faculty.

Save Considerable Amount of Money
One of the primary reasons why people are going for an online degree is the amount of dollars they save while enrolling for such courses. Different studies have found that the amount of fund required to acquire a degree online is half compared to its conventional counterpart. It is far more economical to opt for an internet-based course than to pay your school or college tuition fees.

Flexible Schedules
Almost all online classes/courses offer flexible schedules to study. Students can check the various courses offered by an educational institute directly online without personally rushing to the office to check the same. Working professionals particularly find most online courses highly beneficial, since they allow students to continue working while studying.

Provides Focused Learning
Online learning lets students focus more on the topics to be taught compared to face-to-face learning. In case of traditional method of education, students often lose interest because of chaotic classroom situation and inability of teachers to pay attention to each student individually. Internet-based learning can help educators overcome such situations by allowing them to acquire and use manifold learning styles and mediums such as chats, video conferencing, emails, and so on.
